The Howard is a familiar British sofa shape for good reason. It’s relaxed, comfortable and easy to live with, offering a settled sit that suits everyday use rather than occasional perching. This version is built as a deep-seated sofa, giving you room to properly sit back and relax without losing support.

Each Howard sofa is handmade to order in Britain on a solid hardwood frame. The frame gives the sofa its weight and rigidity, helping it stay supportive and square through years of regular use. This is traditional upholstery work, not mass-produced imported furniture.

The proportions are deliberately generous. The seat is deep, allowing you to stretch out and settle in comfortably, while the gently curved arms and supportive back keep the sit balanced rather than slouched. It’s well suited to longer evenings — reading, watching television, or simply relaxing — without feeling overly soft or shapeless.

Seat cushions are removable. The seat cushions are built with a supportive foam core wrapped in ultra silk fibre, designed to hold their shape and provide consistent comfort over time rather than collapsing. The overall feel is supportive rather than soft, making the sofa practical for everyday use.

The Howard is upholstered in Italian-tanned distressed vintage leather. This is a 100% natural, semi-aniline leather with visible grain, markings and variation in tone. Each sofa will be slightly different. Over time the leather softens and lightens rather than darkening, developing character instead of becoming shiny. All leather is oiled and waxed before delivery to nourish the hide and provide initial protection.

Hand twin-stitched seams and neat piping finish the sofa cleanly, adding strength where it’s needed without making the piece feel decorative or fussy. Turned front legs complete the shape, keeping the look traditional and well balanced.

Available in four sizes, from a compact Snuggler through to a full 4-Seater, the Howard works equally well in bay windows, family living rooms and larger open spaces.

Like all our UK-made sofas, the Howard is built to be kept. The frame and upholstery can be repaired, re-stuffed or reupholstered in the future, rather than replaced. It’s a straightforward, well-made sofa designed for long-term comfort and value.

• Clean stains with light warm soapy water and wash again with clean cold water. Pat dry or lightly with a hair dryer. Then buff up.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent possible fading.
• Do not use abrasive and chemical materials such as sandpaper, alcohol, bleach for cleaning the surfaces.
• Protect from contact with sharp and hard objects.
• The leather can be cared for once a year, using a semi-analine cream added sparingly and buffed up.
