Sustainability

Sustainability, to us, starts with a simple idea. Furniture that lasts for decades causes far less harm than furniture replaced every few years. Everything about how we design, source and build reflects that belief, and we're always happy to talk you through it in more detail.

Built to Last

Fast furniture is designed to be replaced. Ours is designed to stay. A hardwood frame, built properly and upholstered by hand, will comfortably outlast flat-pack alternatives by decades, and often gets passed down rather than thrown out. Choosing furniture this way is one of the simplest ways to reduce waste, long before you think about materials or manufacturing.

Materials with Care

Our leather comes from European cattle hides, a by-product of the dairy and meat industry rather than something farmed specifically for upholstery. We leave it with its natural scars and markings, so nothing extra is used to force an artificial finish. Alongside it, we use genuine Harris Tweed, woven from pure wool on the Isle of Harris using methods protected by law for over a century. Natural fibres like these are hardwearing, biodegradable at the end of a very long life, and kinder to make than most synthetic alternatives.

Made Close to Home

Every frame is built by specialist makers in Wales, then upholstered by hand in Lancashire. Nothing is imported, flat-packed or shipped halfway round the world before it reaches your home. Keeping production in Britain means shorter supply chains, fewer miles travelled, and a closer eye on how every piece is made.

Protecting a Disappearing Skill

Both of our workshops run genuine apprenticeship schemes, training the next generation of upholsterers and frame makers rather than letting those skills fade away. Supporting traditional craftsmanship keeps knowledge alive that might otherwise be lost, and it means every sofa and armchair we sell can, in time, be repaired or reupholstered rather than replaced.

We don't claim to have all the answers, and furniture making will never be without impact. What we can promise is that every decision, from the frame to the fabric, is made with longevity in mind. If you'd like to know more about where a particular piece comes from, get in touch. We're always glad to talk you through it.
