Authentic Harris Tweed

Harris Tweed has been woven on the islands of the Outer Hebrides for generations, by islanders working at traditional looms in their own homes. Since 1993 the Harris Tweed Act has protected it, requiring it to be made from pure wool and handwoven in the islands. Every length is inspected before it leaves.
Our Bracken Brown is a Harris Tweed herringbone, a V-shaped weave that tailors and upholsterers have favoured for centuries. Warm browns with soft flecks of colour give it a depth that shifts with the light, and it sits as comfortably in a traditional room as in a modern one.
Bracken Green is a Harris Tweed hunter check, a classic country pattern of fine woven lines over a deep green ground. It suits a study, a snug or a farmhouse sitting room, and it works well alongside leather in our tweed and leather pieces.
Harris Tweed is made from pure new wool, so it keeps you warm in the colder months and stays comfortable when the weather turns. Tightly woven wool is hard-wearing and resilient, and over the years it softens and settles while keeping its shape.
Harris Tweed is woven on a traditional treadle loom, worked by the weaver's own hands. No automation and no electricity involved in the weaving. It is made from pure wool, by people who live and work on the same islands where the sheep graze. That slow, careful way of working is why every length carries its own character.
Vacuum regularly with a soft brush attachment. Blot spills straight away, and keep the fabric out of direct sunlight. Avoid steam cleaners, heat treatments, solvents and harsh chemicals.
Herringbone is a woven V-shaped pattern, while a hunter check is a grid of fine lines over a solid ground. Our Bracken Brown is the herringbone and our Bracken Green is the hunter check.
Yes. Tightly woven wool is made for everyday use and holds its shape well.
Light vacuuming and blotting spills are fine. For deep cleaning, we recommend a professional service that is safe for wool.
