Frequently Asked Questions

How long does delivery take?

Every piece is built to order rather than kept in stock, so please allow four to six weeks from order to delivery. Standard delivery is free throughout mainland UK.

Can I return my order if I change my mind?

Yes, standard orders can be returned within 30 days with no questions asked. Bespoke orders, where a piece has been made to a custom specification, are made specifically for you and cannot be returned.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. Klarna lets you split the cost into three interest-free payments, and Shop Pay Instalments lets you spread the cost over a longer term at 0% APR.

Is there a warranty?

Yes, every frame carries a 10-year guarantee, separate from the 30-day return window.

Can I customise the fabric or leather on a piece?

Each product is fixed to its listed material options. In some cases, such as requesting a chair entirely in a different Harris Tweed or without leather trim, a bespoke version can be arranged by quote. Bespoke orders are made specifically for you and cannot be returned.

Can I see or feel the materials before I order?

Yes. Request up to six free swatches of our distressed vintage leather, genuine Harris Tweed or sheepskin and we'll post them to you at no charge. Visit our Free Swatches page to choose..

What is your furniture made from?

Every sofa and armchair starts with a solid hardwood frame, built by specialist frame makers in Wales, then upholstered by hand in Lancashire using traditional methods. We work in full grain leather, our own semi-aniline distressed vintage leather, genuine Harris Tweed, and vintage-style velvets. Nothing is imported, flat-packed or mass-produced.

What is your distressed vintage leather?

In 2017, Howard created the semi-aniline distressed vintage leather used across the collection. It's made from European cattle hides, a by-product of the farming industry, and left to show its natural scars, creases and markings rather than the coated, uniform finish found on most mass-market sofas. It changes character with use rather than staying artificially perfect.

Is your furniture genuinely handmade?

Yes. Every piece is handmade to order in Britain using traditional upholstery methods. Both the frame-making and upholstery workshops run genuine apprenticeship schemes, training the next generation rather than letting those skills disappear.

Can I see the furniture in person before I buy?

Yes, our concessions at Hudson's in Stratford-upon-Avon in the Cotswolds, and the Packhouse in Runfold, Farnham, showcase our Vintage Revival collection, classic branded vintage chairs we've restored and brought back to life. Made-to-order pieces from the main collection do occasionally appear there too, though usually only when a bespoke order has been cancelled, so what's on show varies. For the full made-to-order range, browse online or request free swatches to bring the materials to you.

Does your furniture meet UK fire safety regulations?

Yes, all materials meet UK fire safety requirements for domestic upholstered furniture.

Does delivery extend beyond mainland UK?

Standard delivery covers mainland UK only. For the Scottish Highlands and Islands, we work with Hebrides Haulage, who can take delivery of your piece at their Glasgow warehouse, with onward shipping from there arranged and paid for by you. For deliveries further afield, if you organise your own onward shipping and can provide a UK-based warehouse or distribution address, we're happy to deliver there for you. Once a piece leaves our hands for onward shipping, responsibility for it passes to your courier.

How do I care for my leather or Harris Tweed furniture?

Care differs by material, so we've put together dedicated guides:
Leather guide
Harris Tweed guide
Sheepskin guide
