The Howard armchair takes the sofa's generous, deep seated proportions and builds them into a club chair, an easy chair for the end of the day rather than a formal seat for sitting up straight in. Upholstery is our distressed vintage leather, a semi-aniline hide tanned in Italy from natural European cattle skins, hand-cut and fitted so grain and colour vary slightly piece to piece, with a breathable cotton pad beneath the cushion letting the hide breathe rather than trapping heat. Made to order on a solid hardwood frame in Britain. Pairs with the matching Howard sofa, or works well alone in a study or reading corner. The leather lightens gradually with age, so the chair keeps changing in small, welcome ways for years after it arrives. Lead time is four to six weeks, and every piece meets UK fire safety regulations and comes with a 15-year frame guarantee.

• Clean stains with light warm soapy water and wash again with clean cold water. Pat dry or lightly with a hair dryer. Then buff up.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent possible fading.
• Do not use abrasive and chemical materials such as sandpaper, alcohol, bleach for cleaning the surfaces.
• Protect from contact with sharp and hard objects.
• The leather can be cared for once a year, using a semi-analine cream added sparingly and buffed up.
