The Howard is a familiar British armchair shape for good reason. It’s comfortable, well balanced, and easy to live with, offering a settled sit that works just as well for everyday use as it does for longer evenings. This version is built as a deep-seated armchair, giving you room to properly sit back and relax without losing support.

Each Howard armchair is handmade to order in Britain on a solid hardwood frame. The frame gives the chair its weight and stability, helping it stay supportive and square through years of regular use. This is traditional upholstery work, built properly rather than mass-produced or imported.

The proportions are deliberately generous. The seat is deep, allowing you to settle in comfortably, while the gently curved arms and supportive back keep the sit balanced rather than slouched. It’s well suited to reading, watching television, or simply unwinding at the end of the day.

The seat cushion is removable. It’s built with a supportive foam core wrapped in ultra silk fibre, designed to hold its shape and provide consistent comfort over time rather than collapsing. The overall feel is supportive rather than soft, making the chair practical for everyday use.

The Howard is upholstered in Italian-tanned distressed vintage leather. This is a 100% natural, semi-aniline leather with visible grain, markings and variation in tone. Each chair will be slightly different. Over time the leather softens and lightens rather than darkening, developing character instead of becoming shiny. All leather is oiled and waxed before delivery to nourish the hide and provide initial protection.

Hand twin-stitched seams and neat piping finish the armchair cleanly, adding strength without making it feel decorative or fussy. Turned front legs complete the shape, keeping the look traditional and well balanced.

Like all our UK-made furniture, the Howard armchair is built to be kept. The frame and upholstery can be repaired, re-stuffed or reupholstered in the future, rather than replaced. It’s a straightforward, well-made armchair designed for long-term comfort and value.

• Clean stains with light warm soapy water and wash again with clean cold water. Pat dry or lightly with a hair dryer. Then buff up.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent possible fading.
• Do not use abrasive and chemical materials such as sandpaper, alcohol, bleach for cleaning the surfaces.
• Protect from contact with sharp and hard objects.
• The leather can be cared for once a year, using a semi-analine cream added sparingly and buffed up.
