The Hepburn armchair carries the same rounded, relaxed shape as the sofa, built for sinking into rather than sitting formally upright, and it works as well on its own as it does paired either side of a fireplace. Upholstery is our distressed vintage leather, a semi-aniline hide tanned in Italy from natural European cattle skins, hand-cut and fitted so grain and colour vary slightly piece to piece. A breathable cotton pad sits beneath the cushion rather than sealing the leather against solid foam, which helps it age gracefully, lightening gradually with genuine use rather than wearing thin. Frame construction is solid hardwood, built to order in Britain. Available in tan, brown, black, red or green, as a single chair or a matching pair. Lead time is four to six weeks, and every piece meets UK fire safety regulations and comes with a 15-year frame guarantee, built to be repaired rather than replaced when the day eventually comes.

• Clean stains with light warm soapy water and wash again with clean cold water. Pat dry or lightly with a hair dryer. Then buff up.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent possible fading.
• Do not use abrasive and chemical materials such as sandpaper, alcohol, bleach for cleaning the surfaces.
• Protect from contact with sharp and hard objects.
• The leather can be cared for once a year, using a semi-analine cream added sparingly and buffed up.
