The Hepburn is a generous handmade British armchair with a classic club-room feel. It’s designed to be comfortable and enclosing without being soft or shapeless — a chair you properly settle into rather than perch on. This is the leather version of the Hugh armchair, sharing the same proportions and relaxed character.

Each Hepburn armchair is handmade to order in Britain on a solid hardwood frame. The frame gives the chair its weight and stability, helping it remain supportive and square through years of regular use. This is traditional upholstery, built properly rather than lightweight or disposable furniture.

This is a deep-seated armchair. The loose seat and back cushions allow you to sit back comfortably, making it well suited to reading, unwinding or longer periods of sitting. Despite the relaxed feel, the chair remains supportive rather than slouched, with a shape that holds over time.

Seat and back cushions are removable. The seat cushion is built with a supportive foam core wrapped in ultra silk fibre, designed to hold its shape while providing consistent comfort rather than collapsing. The overall sit is supportive rather than soft.

The Hepburn is upholstered in Italian-tanned distressed vintage leather. This is a 100% natural, semi-aniline leather with visible grain, markings and variation in tone. Each chair will be slightly different. Over time the leather softens and lightens rather than darkening, developing character instead of shine. All leather is oiled and waxed before delivery to nourish the hide and provide initial protection.

Traditional nailhead trim is used sparingly to enhance detail, following the natural lines of the frame and finishing the shape cleanly without making the chair feel decorative or fussy. Turned front legs complete the look, keeping the overall feel traditional and well balanced.

Like all our UK-made armchairs, the Hepburn is built to be kept. The frame and upholstery can be repaired, re-stuffed or re-upholstered in the future, extending its life rather than replacing it. It’s a straightforward, well-made leather armchair designed for long-term use in real homes.

• Clean stains with light warm soapy water and wash again with clean cold water. Pat dry or lightly with a hair dryer. Then buff up.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent possible fading.
• Do not use abrasive and chemical materials such as sandpaper, alcohol, bleach for cleaning the surfaces.
• Protect from contact with sharp and hard objects.
• The leather can be cared for once a year, using a semi-analine cream added sparingly and buffed up.
