The Groucho is a handmade British sofa with a lighter, more contemporary feel than a traditional club sofa, while still offering proper comfort and substance. It’s lower in profile and more open in appearance, but generous where it matters, making it easy to live with in both modern and period homes.

Each Groucho sofa is handmade to order in Britain on a solid hardwood frame. The frame gives the sofa its strength and stability, keeping it supportive and dependable through years of everyday use. This is traditional upholstery work, not mass-produced imported furniture.

The sofa is deep seated, with proportions designed for relaxed everyday sitting rather than upright perching. The seat cushion is a single bench cushion, giving a clean, uncluttered look while still providing plenty of room to sit back comfortably. Despite the depth, the feel remains supportive rather than soft or slouchy.

Seat, back and side cushions are all removable. The seat cushion is built with a supportive foam core wrapped in ultra silk fibre, designed to hold its shape and provide consistent comfort over time rather than collapsing. Back and side cushions are supportive and practical, allowing a relaxed posture without losing structure.

The Groucho is upholstered in Italian-tanned distressed vintage leather. This is a 100% natural, semi-aniline leather with visible grain, markings, scars and variation in tone. Each sofa will be slightly different. Over time the leather softens and lightens rather than darkening, developing character instead of becoming shiny or uniform. All leather is oiled and waxed before delivery to nourish the hide and provide initial protection.

Softly flared arms, hand twin-stitched seams and neat piping give the sofa a tailored finish without making it feel formal. The raised hardwood legs lighten the overall look and help the sofa sit comfortably in smaller rooms and apartments as well as larger living spaces.

Available as a 2 seater, 3 seater or 4 seater sofa, the Groucho is a British-made sofa designed to be kept, repaired and re-covered over time rather than replaced.

Each piece is handmade to order in Britain with a typical lead time of 4–6 weeks.

• Clean stains with light warm soapy water and wash again with clean cold water. Pat dry or lightly with a hair dryer. Then buff up.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent possible fading.
• Do not use abrasive and chemical materials such as sandpaper, alcohol, bleach for cleaning the surfaces.
• Protect from contact with sharp and hard objects.
• The leather can be cared for once a year, using a semi-analine cream added sparingly and buffed up.
