The Eccentric Professor Harris Tweed & Leather is a compact handmade British club chair that brings together two materials that have proven themselves over generations. Harris Tweed provides warmth, texture and breathability, while distressed vintage leather adds structure and protection where it’s most needed.

This is a proper club chair in both shape and posture. The rolled arms and upright proportions create an enclosing, supportive sit rather than a deep or slouched one. You sit comfortably in the chair rather than sinking back, which makes it well suited to reading, conversation and everyday use.

Each chair is handmade to order in Britain on a solid hardwood frame. The frame gives the chair its weight and stability, helping it stay supportive and square through years of regular use. This is traditional upholstery, built properly rather than mass-produced or imported.

The main body of the chair is upholstered in genuine Harris Tweed, handwoven from pure virgin wool in the Outer Hebrides. It’s a hard-wearing, breathable cloth that softens gradually with use while holding its shape. Subtle variation in the weave and colour is expected and is part of what defines real tweed.

The arms and back are finished in Italian-tanned distressed vintage leather. This is a 100% natural, semi-aniline leather with visible grain and markings. Each chair will be slightly different. Over time the leather softens and lightens rather than darkening, developing character instead of shine. All leather is oiled and waxed before delivery to nourish the hide and provide initial protection.

The seat cushion is removable, with a cover suitable for dry cleaning. It’s built with a supportive foam core wrapped in ultra silk fibre, designed to hold its shape and provide consistent comfort rather than collapsing. The overall feel is supportive rather than soft, which suits the club chair form.

Despite its compact size, the Eccentric Professor is a British-made armchair designed to be kept. The construction allows it to be maintained, repaired or re-covered in the future rather than replaced, which is exactly how furniture of this type should be treated.

Harris Tweed is hand-woven from pure virgin wool in the Outer Hebrides, using traditional methods passed down through generations. The wool is a renewable natural fibre, and every piece of Harris Tweed is produced under strict local regulation. • Clean stains very lightly with warm water and pat dry with a cloth or very lightly dry with a hair dryer.
• Harris Tweed cushions are removable and can be dry cleaned.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent the product from fading.
• Do not use abrasive or chemical materials such as sandpaper, alcohol, bleach for cleaning the surfaces.
• Protect from contact with sharp objects.
• The thread coming out of any part of the fabrics should never be pulled and torn. It should be cut with scissors without damaging the product.
• Leather can be maintained once a year, using a semi-aniline cream and lightly buffed
