The Eccentric Professor Harris Tweed & Leather is a compact handmade club chair that brings together two materials with long, proven histories. Genuine Harris Tweed, woven by hand from pure virgin wool in the Outer Hebrides, gives the chair warmth, texture and natural breathability. We pair it with smooth leather on the arms and back to add structure, durability and a clean, tailored finish where it’s most needed.

This is a proper club chair in both shape and feel. The rolled arms and upright proportions create an enclosing, supportive sit that’s comfortable without being slack or slouched. It’s well suited to fireside reading, quiet corners and longer conversations, offering support without taking up unnecessary space.

Each British-made chair is built to order in our workshop, starting with a solid hardwood frame that’s traditionally jointed for strength. From there it’s upholstered by hand using time-served methods, so the structure beneath the cushions stays firm and dependable through years of use.

Harris Tweed is naturally breathable and hard-wearing, making it comfortable in all seasons. It softens gently with use while holding its shape, and any subtle variation in the weave is part of the cloth’s character. Combined with leather trim that wears in gradually rather than wearing out, it’s a practical mix of materials designed for everyday living.

Like all our UK-made chairs, the Eccentric Professor is built to be kept. The frame and upholstery can be re-stuffed, repaired or reupholstered in the future, extending its life rather than replacing it.
