The Earl Chesterfield Sofa is a handmade British-made sofa that stays true to the traditional Chesterfield design. With its deep seat, scroll arms and traditionally hand-buttoned back, it offers the comfort expected from a sofa made for everyday living, while retaining the timeless proportions that have made the Chesterfield a British classic.

Every Earl is built to order on a solid hardwood frame and upholstered in semi-aniline distressed vintage leather, tanned in Italy. Natural markings, scars and grain variation ensure that every sofa is unique, while the leather gradually lightens with age, developing even more character over time. Before delivery, every sofa is carefully oiled and waxed to nourish the hide and provide initial protection.

The supportive seat cushions are designed to hold their shape with regular use, providing lasting comfort without becoming overly soft. The visible leather seams are hand twin-stitched for strength and detail, while the traditionally hand-buttoned back is completed using time-honoured upholstery techniques.

Available as a 2, 3 or 4 seater in a choice of Tan, Brown, Black, Red or Green distressed vintage leather, the Earl is made to order in Britain with a typical lead time of 4–6 weeks.

• Clean stains with light warm soapy water and wash again with clean cold water. Pat dry or lightly with a hair dryer. Then buff up.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent possible fading.
• Do not use abrasive and chemical materials such as sandpaper, alcohol, bleach for cleaning the surfaces.
• Protect from contact with sharp and hard objects.
• The leather can be cared for once a year, using a semi-analine cream added sparingly and buffed up.

The leather used in our furniture is a by-product of the farming industry. Using the hide ensures more of the animal is used rather than wasted. Our sofas are made using traditional upholstery methods and solid hardwood frames, which prioritise repair and re-covering over replacement.
