The Denbigh's high, winged back exists for a practical reason, built to shelter the shoulders and neck the way a draughty old hallway or a cold fireside used to demand, a shape borrowed from a time before central heating rather than added for looks. That wingback is built up over padding by hand rather than simply covered, which is what gives it proper structure instead of a flat, stretched finish. Upholstery is our distressed vintage leather, a semi-aniline hide tanned in Italy from natural European cattle skins, hand-cut and fitted so grain and colour vary slightly piece to piece, with a breathable cotton pad beneath the seat cushion so the hide can breathe rather than sit trapped against foam. Available in tan, brown, black, red or green, as a single chair or a pair, suited to either side of a fireplace or flanking a window. The leather will lighten and soften with age rather than wearing thin, so the chair genuinely improves the longer it's used. Lead time is four to six weeks, and every piece meets UK fire safety regulations and comes with a 15-year frame guarantee.

• Clean stains with light warm soapy water and wash again with clean cold water. Pat dry or lightly with a hair dryer. Then buff up.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent possible fading.
• Do not use abrasive and chemical materials such as sandpaper, alcohol, bleach for cleaning the surfaces.
• Protect from contact with sharp and hard objects.
• The leather can be cared for once a year, using a semi-analine cream added sparingly and buffed up.
