The Burlington sits low and rounded rather than upright, built for a corner that wants a proper sitting-and-staying kind of chair rather than a formal seat you perch on. Upholstery is our distressed vintage leather, a semi-aniline hide tanned in Italy from natural European cattle skins, hand-cut and fitted by our upholsterers, with a breathable cotton pad beneath the cushion letting the hide breathe rather than trapping heat underneath. Made to order on a solid hardwood frame in Britain, available on its own or as a matching pair. The leather lightens gradually with age rather than darkening, so the chair develops real character rather than simply wearing out, and it's built to be repaired rather than replaced when it eventually needs attention. Lead time is four to six weeks, and every piece meets UK fire safety regulations.

• Clean stains with light warm soapy water and wash again with clean cold water. Pat dry or lightly with a hair dryer. Then buff up.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent possible fading.
• Do not use abrasive and chemical materials such as sandpaper, alcohol, bleach for cleaning the surfaces.
• Protect from contact with sharp and hard objects.
• The leather can be cared for once a year, using a semi-analine cream added sparingly and buffed up.

The leather used in our furniture is a by-product of the farming industry. Using the hide ensures more of the animal is used rather than wasted. Our sofas are made using traditional upholstery methods and solid hardwood frames, which prioritise repair and re-covering over replacement.
