This Berkley combines the Chesterfield's traditional detailing with a high wingback shape, giving proper support through the shoulders rather than leaving them exposed, the wingback built up over padding by hand rather than simply covered over a flat panel. Upholstery is our distressed vintage leather, a semi-aniline hide tanned in Italy from natural European cattle skins, hand-cut and fitted rather than machine-stretched, with a breathable cotton pad beneath the seat cushion so the hide isn't sealed against solid foam. It's available in one of the widest colour ranges in the collection, tan, brown, black, red, green or grey, on its own or as a matching pair either side of a fireplace. The leather will lighten and mellow with genuine use, so the chair is built to improve rather than simply age. Frame construction is solid hardwood, built to order in Britain. Lead time is four to six weeks, and every piece meets UK fire safety regulations.

• Clean stains with light warm soapy water and wash again with clean cold water. Pat dry or lightly with a hair dryer. Then buff up.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent possible fading.
• Do not use abrasive and chemical materials such as sandpaper, alcohol, bleach for cleaning the surfaces.
• Protect from contact with sharp and hard objects.
• The leather can be cared for once a year, using a semi-analine cream added sparingly and buffed up.
