The Alfie keeps the deep seat and hand-buttoned back that define a proper Chesterfield, each button pulled through and set by hand rather than machine-pressed, holding its shape for the life of the sofa rather than sagging out over a few years. It pairs with the matching Alfie armchair for a full set, or works well on its own as a statement piece. Upholstery is our distressed vintage leather, a semi-aniline hide tanned in Italy from natural European cattle skins, hand-cut and fitted so the surface carries genuine scars and grain rather than a uniform finish, with a breathable cotton pad beneath the cushions letting the hide breathe. Frame construction is solid hardwood, built to order in Britain, available in tan, brown, black, red or green. The leather will lighten and mellow with genuine use, so the sofa you buy today keeps changing in small ways for years to come. Lead time is four to six weeks, backed by a 15-year frame guarantee.

• Clean stains with light warm soapy water and wash again with clean cold water. Pat dry or lightly with a hair dryer. Then buff up.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent possible fading.
• Do not use abrasive and chemical materials such as sandpaper, alcohol, bleach for cleaning the surfaces.
• Protect from contact with sharp and hard objects.
• The leather can be cared for once a year, using a semi-analine cream added sparingly and buffed up.
