The Alfie is a deep-seated Chesterfield sofa, built in Britain using traditional upholstery methods rather than modern production shortcuts. It’s designed for comfort first, with generous proportions and a relaxed sit that suits everyday use rather than formal perching.

With a seat depth of 65 cm, the Alfie allows you to properly sit back rather than perch on the edge. Although deep seated, it remains supportive rather than slouched. The proportions are balanced so it feels comfortable to live with, not awkward or low to get out of.

The back and arms are traditionally hand-buttoned using traditional techniques. The buttoning isn’t just decorative — it plays a practical role in helping the upholstery wear evenly and maintain its shape over time. Nothing is pre-stitched or panelled, which is why the buttoning stays tight and the sofa holds its structure with regular use.

The seat cushions are removable. Cushions are built with a supportive foam core wrapped in ultra silk fibre, designed to hold their shape and provide consistent comfort without collapsing. The overall feel is supportive rather than soft, making the sofa suitable for everyday sitting.

The Alfie is upholstered in Italian-tanned distressed vintage leather. This is a 100% natural, semi-aniline leather with visible grain, markings, scars, and variation in tone. Each sofa will be slightly different. Over time the leather softens and lightens rather than darkening, developing character instead of becoming shiny or uniform. All leather is oiled and waxed before delivery to nourish the hide and provide initial protection.

Internally, traditional upholstery layers are used throughout rather than lightweight foam-only construction. This gives the sofa a comfortable, broken-in feel while still maintaining support and shape over the long term.

Available from armchair size through to extra-large, the Alfie Chesterfield sofa works equally well in smaller rooms and larger open spaces. Every piece is handmade to order in Britain with a typical lead time of 4–6 weeks.

• Clean stains with light warm soapy water and wash again with clean cold water. Pat dry or lightly with a hair dryer. Then buff up.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent possible fading.
• Do not use abrasive and chemical materials such as sandpaper, alcohol, bleach for cleaning the surfaces.
• Protect from contact with sharp and hard objects.
• The leather can be cared for once a year, using a semi-analine cream added sparingly and buffed up.
