The Alfie takes the deep seat and hand-buttoned back of a full Chesterfield sofa and scales it down to a single chair, so a room too small for the sofa can still have the same presence in one seat. Each button on that back is pulled through by hand, not machine-pressed, which is slower but holds its shape properly for the life of the chair rather than sagging within a few years. Upholstery is our distressed vintage leather, a semi-aniline hide tanned in Italy from natural European cattle skins, hand-cut and fitted so the surface carries genuine scars and grain rather than a uniform finish, with a breathable cotton pad beneath the cushion so the hide isn't sealed against solid foam. Available in tan, brown, black, red or green, and pairs with the matching Alfie sofa, though it holds its own as a single reading chair. The leather will lighten gradually with age, so the chair you buy today looks noticeably more characterful in ten years' time. Lead time is four to six weeks, and every piece meets UK fire safety regulations.

• Clean stains with light warm soapy water and wash again with clean cold water. Pat dry or lightly with a hair dryer. Then buff up.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent possible fading.
• Do not use abrasive and chemical materials such as sandpaper, alcohol, bleach for cleaning the surfaces.
• Protect from contact with sharp and hard objects.
• The leather can be cared for once a year, using a semi-analine cream added sparingly and buffed up.
