Detailed Description

The Queen Anne is a traditional British wingback armchair built in a shape that has stood the test of time. The tall back, winged sides and scroll arms give it the familiar Queen Anne presence, offering proper support and a comfortable, upright sit designed for everyday use rather than occasional display.

Each chair is handmade to order in Britain on a solid hardwood frame. The frame gives the armchair its weight and stability, helping it stay supportive and square through years of regular use. This is traditional upholstery work, built properly and intended to last.

The backrest is traditionally hand-buttoned in a Chesterfield style using traditional techniques. The buttoning isn’t just decorative — it helps the upholstery hold its shape and wear evenly over time, preventing the back from loosening or sagging as the chair is used.

The Queen Anne is a deep-seated wingback, but the proportions remain upright and supportive rather than slouched. The loose seat cushion allows a comfortable, relaxed sit while still holding its shape and providing consistent support.

The main body of the chair is upholstered in genuine Harris Tweed, hand-woven in the Outer Hebrides from pure virgin wool and supplied with an authentication tag stitched to the furniture. Harris Tweed is naturally breathable, hard-wearing and textured, softening gently with use without losing its structure.

The arms and outer back are finished in Italian-tanned distressed vintage leather. This is a 100% natural, semi-aniline leather with visible grain, markings, scars and variation in tone. Each chair will be slightly different. Over time the leather softens and lightens rather than darkening, developing character instead of becoming shiny or uniform. All leather is oiled and waxed before delivery to nourish the hide and provide initial protection.

Traditionally applied nailhead trim along the arms and edges, set one stud at a time to follow the natural lines of the chair. Solid hardwood Queen Anne legs complete the piece, giving it a lighter stance that suits both period rooms and more formal modern interiors.

Each Queen Anne wingback armchair is handmade to order in Britain with a typical lead time of 4–6 weeks.
