The Burlington Harris Tweed armchair brings together two materials that have earned their place over time: a traditional club chair shape and genuine Harris Tweed, woven by hand from pure virgin wool in the Outer Hebrides. We combine the tweed with Italian-tanned vintage leather on the arms and back, giving the chair structure where it’s needed and softness where you sit.

Each handmade armchair is built to order in our British workshop. It starts with a solid hardwood frame, traditionally jointed, then upholstered using time-served methods rather than shortcuts. The result is a British-made armchair that feels solid, supportive, and properly made.

The seat is upright and comfortable rather than deep or slouched. It’s designed for reading, conversation, and regular use. Harris Tweed is naturally breathable and hard-wearing, making it comfortable year-round, while the leather gradually softens and lightens over time, developing a relaxed, lived-in look. Variations in the cloth and leather are part of the materials and exactly what you’d expect from the real thing.

Like all our UK-made armchairs, the Burlington is built to be kept. It can be reupholstered and maintained in the future, rather than replaced. That’s one of the advantages of a solid hardwood frame and traditional upholstery — long service life and better value over time.

Choose Tan leather with Bracken Brown Tweed for a warmer, earthy feel, or Brown leather with Bracken Green Tweed for a more understated look. Either way, it’s a practical, well-proportioned chair that sits comfortably in bay windows, reading corners, or by the fire.
