The Eccentric Professor Bouclé Armchair is a compact handmade British armchair that brings the reassuring shape of a traditional club chair into a more contemporary setting. Its gently curved back and softly rolled arms create an enclosed, supportive sit, while the overall proportions remain modest and easy to place.

Designed with smaller spaces in mind, the chair works particularly well in reading corners, bay windows and snug rooms where comfort matters but floor space is limited. The shape supports you comfortably without encouraging a slouched posture, making it well suited to reading, conversation or longer periods of relaxed sitting.

Each armchair is handmade to order in our British workshop, beginning with a solid hardwood frame that’s traditionally jointed for strength. Upholstery is carried out using established methods, giving the chair a dependable structure beneath the softness of the fabric. It’s a build that holds its shape properly and stands up to everyday use.

The bouclé upholstery adds warmth and texture without heaviness. Its tactile surface brings softness and visual interest to modern interiors, while neat piping keeps the lines clean and tailored. Where specified, subtle stud detailing is used in a traditional way to enhance the outline of the chair, following the natural lines of the frame and finishing the shape cleanly without making it feel decorative or fussy.

The seat is comfortably padded and supportive rather than deep, offering a balanced sit that feels relaxed without losing structure. The back provides steady support without pushing you forward, striking an easy balance between comfort and posture.

Like all our UK-made armchairs, the Eccentric Professor is built to be kept. The frame and upholstery can be re-stuffed, repaired or reupholstered in the future, allowing the chair to adapt and endure rather than be replaced.

Sheepskin is a natural by-product of sheep farming, with the fleece and hide used rather than discarded. When used for upholstery, sheepskin provides warmth, durability and breathability without the need for synthetic materials. Our sheepskin furniture is handmade in Britain using traditional methods, reducing shipping distances and supporting skilled British furniture makers.

• Wash it with very light soapy water and again with cold water then lightly dry with a hair dryer.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent the product from fading.
• Do not use abrasive and chemical materials such as sandpaper, alcohol, bleach for cleaning the surfaces.
• Protect from contact with sharp objects.
• We recommend dry cleaning the removable sheepskin cushion covers.
• The thread coming out of any part of the fabrics should never be pulled and torn. It should be cut with scissors without damaging the product.
